Harzer BaudenSteig

Explore the Harz buildings and the beautiful diversity of the Harz landscape

The Harzer BaudenSteig is one of the long-distance hiking trails in the Harz Mountains. It takes you over six stages from Bad Grund via Lerbach, Sieber, Bad Lauterberg, Bad Sachsa and Wieda to Walkenried. All six stages add up to a total length of almost 100 kilometres and the different stages offer something for every hiking taste. The first stage is the most athletic, while the second, fifth and sixth stages are suitable for everyone. The third and fourth stages are particularly suitable for hikes with children. All stages take you through green mixed forests, gentle valleys and ascending hills, past watercourses and ponds.

You will repeatedly come across beautiful vantage points from which you can let your gaze wander over the Harz landscape. The route also takes you to a large number of Harzer Bauden which are inns where you can take a cosy break and enjoy a bite to eat. In the past, Bauden - the word comes from "Bude" - were shelters for shepherds. If the individual stages are still too long for you, you can also follow the various signposted circular routes along the route. This makes the tours shorter and the starting point can be reached again more quickly.
