Altenau Pasture Festival
20 September 2026 (date to be confirmed) – Kleine-Oker-Park, Altenau
Every autumn, the Weidefest is traditionally celebrated in Altenau. The festival pays tribute to the Harz highland cattle. Look forward to an afternoon filled with cattle and steeped in tradition. It begins with a rousing brass band concert by the Janitscharen Kapelle. This is followed by the herd’s march from the Kunstberg to the Kleine-Oker-Park.
Admission is free! Coffee and cake will be provided. The proceeds from the Weidefest will go towards further improvements to Altenau. In 2026, the Weidefest will take place on Sunday 20 September, from 2 pm (date subject to change).
Yodelling, a whip-cracking concert and a cattle drive
There’s plenty going on at Kleine-Oker-Park on this day during the Weidefest in Altenau. Enjoy coffee and cake whilst listening to passionate yodelling and a whip-cracking concert. Be there when the new cowherd is appointed and watch as the herd is driven from Kleine-Oker-Park back to the Kunstberg!
